How is it managed?
Prior to management it is essential that your physiotherapist completes a thorough subjective and objective assessment of your condition.
Physical examination will include specific tests to load the tendon to identify if symptoms are reproduced alongside ruling out other pathologies.
After this, the physiotherapist will advise you on the appropriate management strategy by providing suitable exercises to optimise load tolerance and strengthen the tendon.
Shockwave therapy
Shockwave therapy is a mechanotherapy (high energy electromagnetic waves) which can promote tissue healing and reduce pain. This is often utilised in the management of tendinopathies to accelerate rehabilitation.
