At The MSK Clinic Physio, we offer professional microneedling using the iMedPen, with the option of advanced skin treatments incorporating exosomes or polynucleotides, where clinically appropriate.
Whether you want to soften fine lines, improve acne scarring, refine uneven skin texture or support overall skin rejuvenation, our treatments are designed to stimulate natural skin renewal and deliver progressive, natural-looking results.
Every treatment begins with a professional consultation, allowing us to create a personalised treatment plan based on your skin, concerns and goals.
What Is iMedPen Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin.
This activates the body’s natural repair response and stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping improve skin texture, firmness and the appearance of certain types of scarring.
iMedPen Microneedling Benefits
At The MSK Clinic Physio, we use the iMedPen professional microneedling system, allowing treatment depth and intensity to be tailored to different areas of the face and body.
- Microneedling May Help Improve:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scarring
- Uneven skin texture
- Enlarged pores
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Mild skin laxity
- Certain pigmentation concerns
- Stretch marks
- Selected surgical scars
- Overall skin tone and radiance
- Results vary depending on your skin and the concern being treated.
Microneedling is particularly popular for patients looking to improve skin quality without surgery or significant downtime.
Our Advanced Microneedling Treatments
We offer three personalised approaches to skin rejuvenation.
1. iMedPen Collagen Induction Microneedling
Our signature iMedPen treatment focuses on stimulating your skin’s natural collagen and elastin production.
Controlled microchannels encourage skin renewal and gradual improvement in skin texture and appearance.
Ideal for:
- Fine lines and early signs of ageing
- Enlarged pores
- Uneven skin texture
- Mild acne scarring
- General skin rejuvenation
Recommended course: Typically 3–6 treatments, depending on your skin concerns and response.
2. Microneedling with Exosomes
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles involved in cell-to-cell communication. They have attracted growing interest in regenerative aesthetics because of their potential role in skin repair and cellular signalling.
Exosome-based skincare formulations are being investigated for their potential to support skin hydration, recovery and rejuvenation.
When used alongside microneedling, the intention is to complement the skin’s natural renewal process.
- Potential Benefits Being Investigated
- Improved skin hydration
- Support for skin recovery
- Improved appearance of fine lines
- Smoother-looking skin
- Improved overall skin quality
Who may consider it?
Patients interested in advanced skin rejuvenation who wish to explore newer regenerative skincare technologies.
Important: Exosome-assisted microneedling is an emerging treatment. Clinical evidence is still developing, and additional benefits beyond microneedling alone have not been conclusively established.
The suitability of any exosome formulation depends on its ingredients, intended use, regulatory status and compatibility with microneedling.
3. Microneedling with Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are purified DNA-derived compounds used in some injectable skin-rejuvenation treatments.
They are increasingly used in aesthetic medicine for their potential to support skin quality, hydration and tissue repair.
At The MSK Clinic Physio, polynucleotide treatments can be considered as part of a personalised skin-rejuvenation programme alongside microneedling.
Depending on the formulation and its approved intended use, polynucleotides may be administered as a separate treatment rather than applied directly into microneedled skin.
- Potential Benefits
- Improved skin hydration
- Improved appearance of fine lines
- Support for skin quality and elasticity
- Smoother-looking skin
- Gradual improvement in overall skin appearance
Polynucleotide treatments are particularly popular among patients seeking subtle, natural-looking improvements rather than changes to facial volume.
Recommended treatment plan: Determined during consultation, according to the product, treatment method and skin concerns.
Evidence for combined treatment protocols remains limited, and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Areas We Treat with iMedPen Microneedling
Advanced Skin Rejuvenation for the Face, Body & Scalp
Microneedling isn’t just for the face. At The MSK Clinic Physio, we offer personalised iMedPen treatments for a range of areas, helping improve skin texture, the appearance of scars and overall skin quality.
Whether you are looking to rejuvenate your face, improve a surgical scar or address changes to your skin following pregnancy, we can tailor your treatment to your individual needs.
Face
Neck
Décolletage & Chest
Scalp & Hair
A consultation is required to assess the cause of hair loss and determine whether microneedling is appropriate.
Surgical Scars, Including C-Section Scars
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of selected surgical scars, including Caesarean section (C-section) scars, by encouraging collagen remodelling and improving skin texture.
Treatment may help with:
- Uneven or irregular scar texture
- Mildly raised or depressed scars
- Scar appearance and skin quality
- Selected mature surgical scars
Treatment is only performed once the scar has fully healed and following an assessment of scar maturity, skin condition and suitability.
Stretch Marks
Microneedling may help reduce the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating collagen remodelling within the skin.
Common treatment areas include:
- Abdomen and tummy
- Hips and thighs
- Buttocks
- Upper arms
Areas affected by pregnancy or weight changes
Other Body Scars
Not all scars are suitable for microneedling, particularly those prone to keloid formation.
Not sure which treatment is right for you?
Our clinicians will assess your skin or scar and recommend a personalised treatment plan, which may include iMedPen microneedling or an appropriate complementary skin-rejuvenation treatment.
When Is the Best Time to Treat a Scar with Microneedling?
Timing is important when treating surgical scars, including C-section scars.
Microneedling stimulates collagen production and encourages the skin’s natural remodelling process. Treating a scar at the right stage of healing can improve its appearance, texture, and overall skin quality.
When can treatment begin?
For many patients, this means considering treatment around 3–6 months after surgery, although some scars may be suitable earlier or require a longer healing period. No single timeframe works for everyone.
Can older scars be treated?
Although scars continue to mature naturally over approximately 12–18 months or longer, collagen remodelling can still be stimulated in established scars.
How many sessions will I need?
What about C-section scars?
However, microneedling does not correct deeper scar adhesions or restrictions in the underlying tissues.
At The MSK Clinic Physio, we consider both your scar’s appearance and any associated tissue restrictions, which helps us recommend the most appropriate treatment approach.
Book a Scar Assessment
Whether your scar is relatively new or several years old, our clinicians can assess its suitability for microneedling and develop a personalised treatment plan.
Before & After
How Many Microneedling Sessions Will I Need?
Some patients notice improvements in skin radiance and texture after their first session.
However, collagen remodelling is a gradual process, and more noticeable changes usually develop over several weeks and months.
For concerns such as acne scarring, fine lines or uneven texture, we commonly recommend a course of treatments.
Typical iMedPen treatment course:
- 3–6 sessions
- Usually spaced approximately 2-4 weeks apart
- Maintenance treatments may be considered depending on your goals
- More significant scarring may require additional treatments or alternative approaches.
Is There Any Downtime?
Most patients experience temporary redness, warmth and sensitivity after microneedling.
These effects often improve within 24–72 hours, although deeper treatments can require longer recovery.
You may also notice mild dryness, tightness or flaking as your skin heals.
We will guide you on avoiding makeup, strenuous exercise, heat exposure, irritating skincare products, and excessive sun exposure for the recommended period.

Your skin may look pink or red and feel warm or sensitive after treatment.
You will receive detailed aftercare instructions to help protect your skin during recovery.
